this is what twenty-seven looks like

My birthday is really in a couple of weeks, but it’s close.  So much of life in the future, still allowed the innocence of inexperience, the freedom of youth.

And what a weight off the shoulders to realize that man, I don’t need to have everything figured out by now.  Last night I listened to the stories of a man with at least fifteen years more life under his belt than I as he read 1st Thessalonians 5:23.  I understood (again) that wisdom comes with age and experience and that God lets years pass on like rings growing on trees as He teaches and refines.

He does not expect a sapling to be as strong, its roots so deep as a sequoia as old as General Sherman.  And praise Him for that, really.
